Something to Check Out: FarmBox LA

May 2, 2013

Farmers Market shopping for people who don't have time to go to the farmers market!

Farm Box LA was founded in 2008 by Reisha Fryzer (a business school graduate who ended up working a farm in Malibu) as a way to bring local, sustainable farm bounty (such as Harry's BerriesTutti Fruitti Farms, and Gloria's Fruits and Vegetables) along with artisan items each week to people’s homes.

Farm Box LA's goal is to support local agriculture by directly sourcing fresh seasonal produce from the farm and partnering with local artisans who prepare food with these fresh ingredients. Similar to a CSA, each week customers receive their delivery in a modern reusable and insulated eco-baskets, which come in three sizes to fit each household’s needs (starting at $52).

And yes, this totally sounds like a CSA, but what makes Farm Box LA different is that they have a larger selection of boxes including: Fruit & Veggie Box, No Cooking Box, Juicing Box, Paleo Crossfit Box, The Complete Box, and the Beauty Box (launching this month). Customers can customize their preferences for allergies and easily make substitutions for dislikes.

Along with fresh fruits and veggies, Farm Box LA is the only company to be partnered withRockenwagner Bakery and delivers eggs (from Lily's Eggs), olive oil (from Joëlle), cheese (from Gioia Cheese Co.), hummus (from Cal Snax), etc.

Farm Box now reaches hundreds across LA and plans to soon open up branches in San Diego, San Francisco and Orange County. For more info visit www.farmboxla.com.
